Summer in the PNW is so close I can taste it, I can’t wait for all the fun summer activities! With summer comes summer vacation for kids in school and with summer vacation comes the inevitable, “I’m bored mom/dad”. Am I right? Luckily my daughter hasn’t learned that phrase yet, but I know it is just a matter of time. I am a firm believer that it is so important to get kids outside to play regularly and I know with all the technology we have now, that can be difficult. My sister told me about this fun summer activities idea she did with some kids she nannied several years ago and I am so excited to try it.
I call it the ABC’s of summer activities. At the beginning of summer, sit down with your kid/kids and make a list. Write out the alphabet and next to each letter write as many activities as you can think of that start with that letter. Then each morning (or night before), look at the list and have your kids choose one or more activities that they want to do that day. Then do it! Start with letter A, the next day do letter B and so on. Take a day off when you need or only do it a couple days a week, do whatever works for you. Below are some activities for each letter of the alphabet, use mine, make your own or do both!
