It can be so hard to find non-toxic baby and kids products. Just because something says ‘non-toxic’ does not mean that it is truly free of any harmful chemicals. Trust me, it is very easy to be fooled. I have been fooled more times than I care to count! Here are some products that I have researched, tried and love, a long with some other products I love.
Non-Toxic Kitchen
Pura Kiki water bottle– This water bottle is great, it’s stainless steel and silicone, no plastic here! There are several different lids you can choose from too- straw, nipple or sport top.
Munchkin Stainless Steel Snack Bowl– This is the best snack bowl I’ve found. It is perfect for letting your kid have some independence to eat on their own. You don’t have to worry about them spilling a whole bowl of snacks everywhere!
Avanchy Stainless Steel Suction Bowl– My favorite thing about this bowl is that it comes with a lid! Perfect for when your kid doesn’t finish their food, that never happens at our house though… Kidding! The suction bottom made this bowl perfect when my daughter was still in the highchair and liked to throw things on the floor. I also love that there is no plastic, just stainless steel and silicone.
Munchkin Miracle Stainless Steel 360 Sippy Cup– Okay, I don’t love the plastic lid on this cup. My daughter just couldn’t quite figure out how to get it to work when she was younger either. So, I ordered these other lids that go with this cup and they work much better. Yes, the lid is plastic, but at least the straw is silicone. We use this cup for smoothies, if/when my daughter knocks it over, we don’t have to worry about spilling!
Stainless Steel Ice Cubes– These ice cubes definitely weren’t meant to be a kids product. They really need to start marketing them that way though! How many times have you had to put food in the fridge/freezer or use ice cubes to cool dinner down for your kids? We used to put ice cubes in my daughters soup to cool it down when we were in a hurry. We eat a lot of soup and chili in our house, so these ice cubes were a game changer when it comes to cooling food at dinner time!
Non-Toxic Bathroom
Bamboo Toothbrushes– I like that these are made of bamboo instead of plastic. When you are done with the toothbrush, you just pull out the bristles with some pliers. Toss the bristles in the garbage and throw the bamboo handle in your compost or reuse them for crafts.
Weleda Kids Toothpaste– My daughter loves the spearmint flavor of this toothpaste. I love that it is fluoride free, doesn’t have any synthetic preservatives, is free of artificial flavors or sweeteners and doesn’t have any color/food dye.
Lil Advents Potty Time Adventures– This is the perfect potty training tool if you want to avoid treats. We used this with the 3-Day Potty Training Method to potty train my daughter. It’s like an advent calendar game. Every time your child uses the toilet, they get to put a sticker on the board. When they fill up all the stickers on one punch out, they get to open it. Inside are cute wooden toys. There is a farm themed one, a car theme and a dinosaur theme.
All Good Baby & Kids Mineral Sunscreen– It’s so hard to find a non-toxic mineral sunscreen that rubs in and doesn’t leave you looking white. I’ve tried several brands during my search and All Good is the only one that rubs in easily and doesn’t leave a white residue. Our whole family uses it. There are no chemical UV absorbers, parabens, oxybenzone, synthetic fragrances, gluten or GMOs. It is vegan, biodegradable, reef friendly, water resistant and 3rd party tested.
Non-Toxic Infant
Haakaa Silicone Breast Pump– This silicone breast milk collector is my number one must have for breastfeeding moms! I cannot say enough good things about the Haakaa! The haakaa collects your let down on one side as you nurse on the other side. For me, it would collect a whole bottles worth of milk that my husband could give my daughter during late night feedings. I wouldn’t have to pump every day to get milk for my husband’s feedings. You turn the flange of it inside out, squeeze the bottom, place it on your breast (making sure the nipple is in the hole) and flip the flange onto the breast. That’s it!
Phillips Avent Natural Glass Bottle Gift Set– I had the larger size of these bottles when my daughter was a baby. They were too big and and heavy and we didn’t use them enough. We ended up using plastic bottles (makes me cringe when I think about it now) way more than I wanted to. I wish we had these smaller ones!
The Honest Company Diapers– We tried a bunch of different kinds of diapers when my daughter was an infant. Honest Company were by far our favorite! These diapers are made without chlorine, fragrances or lotions. They are made from sustainable and eco-friendly material and they even come in cute patterns. We never had to deal with leaks or blow outs with these diapers either, but each baby is different.
Hyland’s Homeopathic Teething Tablets– Hyland’s teething tablets were a life saver when it came to my daughter’s teething. We tried a couple other products, but these were easy to use and very effective. Hyland’s has tons of other homeopathic remedies that I highly recommend for kiddos and babies.
Burt’s Bees Baby Diaper Rash Ointment– This isn’t the cleanest diaper cream due to a skin absorption enhancer called glyceryl rosinate that they use. However, it is a pretty good choice compared to a lot of other diaper creams. There are no phthalates, parabens, petrolatum or sodium lauryl sulfates. This stuff is amazing though! Any time my daughter had a diaper rash, this diaper cream would clear it up right away! This is one of those gifts that I get for all my new mom friends, it’s a must have!
Night Time
LittleHippo Mella Ready to Rise Children’s Trainer– This was a daylight savings time desperation purchase last year. I’m happy to report that it totally worked! She was waking up at 5am and I sure as hell wasn’t waking up that early in the morning! I used to when I was a barista, but my body doesn’t function the way it used to, unfortunately. This clock turns green when it is okay to get out of bed. So my daughter is usually quiet until it turns green and I can get a tiny bit more sleep!
LED Nursery Night Light– This night light has also been amazing when it comes to night time. My daughter is obsessed with bunnies (as you probably know from my Easter post) and she loves this night light. About a week after we transitioned her into her toddler bed, she decided she didn’t want to sleep in her bed all of the sudden. We put a baby gate in her doorway so she can’t get out during the night, this girl would literally sleep on the floor in front of the gate, all night! We slowly got her to sleep a few feet from the doorway, but she was still sleeping on the floor for like 6 months! Between this light and some bunny sheets, she is finally sleeping in her toddler bed again!
